Typescript autobiography of Deming, written in 1849 after the death of his third wife. Recounts Deming's early years in Connecticut, his father's Revolutionary War service, his own work as a blacksmith, emigration to Ohio in 1811, effects of the War of 1812, and various religious and social movements in Portage County. Includes annotations and genealogy by Deming's great grandson George P. Metcalf.
